Managing Partner & Founder
Ryan McCalley is the Managing Partner and Founder of SQN Venture Partners. He has lead responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of SQN Venture Partners, the sourcing and investment process, and portfolio construction. Ryan brings over 15 years of portfolio management and startup operational experience to SQN.
Prior to establishing SQN Venture Partners in partnership with SQN, he was the Senior Vice President of ATEL Ventures, a San Francisco private equity firm that manages $2 billion in assets, providing venture debt financing to emerging-technology companies. His tenure with ATEL began in 2004, and he held various positions responsible for portfolio management, underwriting, and origination, including serving as the head of the Clean Energy Investments.
His extensive experience financing emerging technology companies led him to take a sabbatical from ATEL, during which he successfully cofounded and launched PURE Energies, Inc. in 2010. PURE became a leading acquisition platform for residential solar energy, pioneering online and telephone sales. He was part of the founding senior management team and board that led PURE from concept to raising over $20 million of venture capital financing, led by New Enterprise Associates, the nation’s largest venture capital firm. During 2014, PURE Energies became a top 5 residential solar provider, which ultimately led to an all-cash acquisition by NRG Energy Inc., a Fortune 250 company.
Mr. McCalley possesses a broad skill set and experience in finance, portfolio management, and company advisement. He is an advisor and board member to M&L Commodities, Inc., an industrial and commercial real estate development partnership, as well as mentor and advisor to numerous startup companies. Mr. McCalley holds a BA in economics and accounting from the University of California Santa Barbara.
Jeremiah J. Silkowski
Jeremiah Silkowski is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of SQN Capital Management and has more than 25 years’ experience in the asset finance and equipment fund management business. SQN Capital Management is a multinational alternative investment manager specializing in collateralized, non-correlated, income-producing investments. SQN Capital Management manages six funds catering to a broad array of investors including institutions and pension plans, banks, funds of funds, and wealth managers, and has a retail distribution network. In conjunction with its UK subsidiary, SQN Capital Management manages the world’s only publicly-traded diversified asset finance and equipment leasing fund which is traded on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange. SQN Capital Management also manages separate accounts for mid-sized insurance companies throughout the United States. With offices in New York and London, SQN focuses on asset finance and equipment leasing of business-essential, core assets with enduring useful economic life and active secondary markets.
Jeremiah has recently been named one of the “50 Most Influential People in Asset Finance” by Leasing Life and was the recipient of the 2015 External Investment Award given for SQN Capital Management’s success in introducing asset finance and equipment leasing as a viable investment vehicle for a broad range of non-traditional investors in the space. Jeremiah lives in New York City with his wife and son and is also the Associate Publisher of Society and Diplomatic Review, a magazine originally intended to be exclusively distributed within United Nation community but has grown to promote business and commerce across the member nations.
Jeremiah received his BA in economics from New York University. He also holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses
Michael Miroshnikov serves as the Managing Director. Mr. Miroshnikov was a founder of SQN Capital Management, LLC and, since 2013, has spearheaded the growth and development of SQN’s acquisition and origination division.
Mr. Miroshnikov began his career in the equipment leasing and finance industry in 2002. Since 2007, Mr. Miroshnikov has played an integral role at SQN in a variety of capacities, including operations, compliance, acquisitions, and executive management.
Mr. Miroshnikov possesses a specific expertise in technology, manufacturing, medical, marine, energy, and aviation assets and the respective industries. In 2005, he graduated cum laude with a BA in investment finance from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. In 2009, he received a JD degree from Brooklyn Law School. He also holds Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses.
Senior Vice President
Mr. Barnett is responsible for developing and managing a select group of RIA and broker-dealer relationships for SQN. Prior to joining SQN, he held positions of Director, Senior Director, and Vice President RIA at ATEL Securities Corp. At ATEL, he was responsible for the marketing and distribution of multiple growth capital funds through both the RIA and broker-dealer channels. Those responsibilities included development of RIA relationships and the management of the internal distribution team for multiple fund offerings.
In addition to those positions, Mr. Barnett was an associate for a San Francisco-based RIA and worked with the business development team marketing advisory services, which included Hatteras Fund of Funds.
Michael C. Ponticello
Michael C. Ponticello serves as a Managing Director. Mr. Ponticello is a founder of SQN Capital Management, LLC and has led its capital raising efforts through the independent broker-dealer and registered investment advisor channels since its inception. He has played an integral role at SQN, serving as its Executive Vice President and National Sales Manager. Mr. Ponticello was also responsible for the establishment and development of SQN Securities, LLC, and serves as its President.
Mr. Ponticello started his career in equipment leasing and asset finance in 2001 at an alternative investment firm. He serves as a Board member and Director of The Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA), a national trade association of decision makers who influence over 30,000 professionals involved in alternative investments, primarily non-traded alternatives.
Mr. Ponticello received his BA from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. He also holds Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses.
